PIG ROCK

Drive north on Highway 445, Pyramid Highway. 24 miles from the McCarran intersection, just past the small bridge and just before crossing into the Indian reservation, turn left onto the dirt road. Drive for 3 miles until reaching the pig. Car poolers usually meet in the Raleys parking lot on Pyramid, near Greenbrae.

DONNER SUMMIT, SCHOOL ROCK

Driving west on I-80, take the Donner Lake exit and drive west on Hwy. 40 along the lake and up the hill. Just past the old bridge is School Rock, park along the road. Car poolers usually meet in the Raleys parking area at Keystone and West 7th.

DONNER SUMMIT, GROUSE SLABS

Just past the old bridge is School Rock. Park in the School Rock area and follow the Pacific Crest Trail north (to the right). After a couple hundred yards and before taking the switch-backed trail up the side of the mountain, cut off to right and go around the right side of the hill. Car poolers usually meet in the Raleys parking area at Keystone and West 7th.

Donner Summit, GREENER PASTURES AREA ON GROUSE SLABS

Just past the old bridge is School Rock. Park in the School Rock area and follow the Pacific Crest Trail north (to the right). After a couple hundred yards and before taking the switch-backed trail up the side of the mountain, cut off to right side of the hill just short of Grouse Slabs. Car poolers usually meet in the Raleys parking area at Keystone and West 7th.

DONNER SUMMIT, GREEN PHANTOM

Park in the paved turn-out, view area, just before the old bridge. The climbing is just under the bridge. Car poolers usually meet in the Raleys parking area at Keystone and West 7th.

DONNER SUMMIT, SNOWSHED

Before getting to the old bridge is a large parking area on the south side of the road, next to the north facing rock wall and the snow sheds which protect the rail road. Car poolers usually meet in the Raleys parking area at Keystone and West 7th.

DONNER SUMMIT, PEANUT GALLERY, SOLAR SLABS

After passing Black Wall and Road Cut find a place to park near Peanut Gallery. We will be on the east facing slabs on the far right side of Peanut Gallery. Car poolers usually meet in the Raleys parking area at Keystone and West 7th.

DONNER SUMMIT, BLACK WALL

If we go to the Rated-X area, which is on the right side of Black Wall, I will be parked next to the start of the approach on the north side of the road. If we go to the Canibal Gully area, which is on the left side of Black Wall, I will be parked across the road from the start of the approach on the south side of the road. Car poolers usually meet in the Raleys parking area at Keystone and West 7th.

EAST SHORE OF LAKE TAHOE AT BALL BUSTER

Ball Buster is located on Highway 28 approximately 10 miles south of Incline Village and 3 miles north of the intersection with Highway 50. Car poolers usually meet at the parking area at the northwest corner of Mount Rose Highway and 395.

INDIAN SPRINGS, EAGLE LAKE AREA

Drive west on I-80. Continue on the freeway past Donner Summit. 13.5 miles past the Donner Summit Rest Stop is the Eagle Lakes Road. Exit here, turn right, and drive 1/2 mile and park along the road. A short hike up the slabs gets to the climbing area. Car poolers usually meet in the Raleys parking area at Keystone and West 7th.

PIE SHOP, SOUTH LAKE TAHOE

Drive to South Lake Tahoe, take Highway 50 west from the junction of Highway 50 and Highway 89 North, at the "Y". Driving west on 50 and shortly past the airport, turn right on Sawmill Road (shortly before crossing the bridge over the South Fork of the Upper Truckee River.) Park 1/4 mile up Sawmill Road. A short hike up the slope passing several big boulders gets to the climbing area. Car poolers usually meet at the parking area at the northwest corner of Mount Rose Highway and 395.

PRISON HILL, in CARSON CITY

Drive south through Carson City. South of town turn left on Clearview (where the WalMart is). Drive to the end of the pavement and turn left on the dirt road for another 50 yards. The trail goes up the steep hill from there and the climbing area can be seen from the cars. Car poolers usually meet at the Park-and-Ride parking area at the northwest corner of Mount Rose Highway and 395.

IRON BUTTE, just east of Dayton

From Carson City take highway 50 east through Dayton. 7.8 miles east of the Dayton stop light turn right on Chaves Road. Drive 1/2 mile and turn left on the smaller dirt road. Park near the base of the hill and take a trail up to the obvious climbing areas. Car poolers usually meet at the Park-and-Ride parking area at the northwest corner of Mount Rose Highway and 395.

BIG CHIEF

Drive west to the first Truckee exit. Turn left into Truckee on Highway 267. At the stop sign in town, turn left across the railroad tracks. After less than one mile is a 7-Eleven.
